Sarantel signs Antenna Development agreement with TerreStar
Sarantel Group PLC, (AIM: SLG, “Sarantel”), a leading manufacturer of high-performance, miniature
filtering antennas for mobile and wireless devices, has signed an agreement with mobile
communications provider TerreStar Networks Inc, (“TerreStar”), a majority-owned subsidiary of
TerreStar Corporation (NASDAQ: TSTR), to develop an antenna solution to support future
integrated satellite terrestrial mobile devices designed for government, public safety, enterprise and
consumer users.
Under the agreement, Sarantel will develop a new antenna solution to fit the high performance and
small size requirements for TerreStar’s next generation reference design platform. The resulting
platform will enable satellite connectivity to be embedded in a broad range of new conventionallysized
smartphones and machine-to-machine devices.
"This agreement, although modest in terms of the company’s revenue, is important as it
demonstrates our ability to provide antenna solutions for a broad range of devices,” said David
Wither, chief executive officer, Sarantel. “We believe TerreStar’s integrated satellite terrestrial
network will enable the development of a number of exciting new applications and we look forward
to supporting their efforts."
This agreement broadens TerreStar's current development programs for advanced technologies
that combine the ubiquity of a North American satellite footprint with the connectivity of terrestrial
wireless networks.
